The Manson Family
Joining the hippie culture, he learned that he could use drugs to manipulate people. he then began to attract a group of followers which were primarily very young women. His followers were naive, gullible, and easy to lead. He used drugs such as LSD and amphetamines as additional tools to control them. In the spring of 1968, they got on an old school bus and eventually moved in with music teacher Gary Hinman. They then met Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys through him and Manson attempted to turn the acquaintance into an opportunity. Wilson however become uncomfortable with Manson and his followers and told them to leave. The Manson family then found refuge on an elderly man's ranch. Through his contacts, Manson was able to get a hold of Terry Melcher and have a chance to have his music put into a movie. Melcher, however, wasn't interested in Manson's music. This led to Manson blaming Melcher for his disappointment.
