Manson the Young Adult
In early 1955, Manson married a waitress who bore him a son who was then named Charles Manson Jr. To make ends meet, Charles worked low income jobs and stole cars. He was eventually caught and sent to a prison. His wife divorced him after 3 years of him being in jail. In 1958, he was released on parole He took up the occupation of pimping and received money from a wealthy woman. In 1959, Manson was arrested for stealing a check and attempting to cash a Treasury check. A woman pretended to be pregnant to keep him out of jail. He was placed on probation. In the end of 1959, Manson conned a woman out of $700 to invest in a fake company. He got her pregnant, then drugged and raped her roommate. He fled, but was caught and sent prison to serve out his ten-year sentence. Still in prison in 1964, he was described by prison officials as tending to "involve himself in fanatical interests. His obsession with The Beatles was one of them. Noted in 1966, it was said that he had been "spending time most of his free time writing songs accumulating 80 or 90 of them during the past year." He was released from prison on March 21, 1967.
